About this product

Technology

Pellet heaters rely on pyrolysis to convert biomass into energy, i.e. the thermochemical decomposition of macromolecules by heating them in the absence of oxygen. Applied to biomass, pyrolysis allows the material to be separated into two main components: syngas (or syngas, which is an excellent fuel) and a solid residue of char commonly known as char/coal.

When a particle is pyrolyzed, it reacts with the air (oxygen) and breaks down into smaller particles, removing contaminants from the process. This specific process has two stages:

1.Pyrolysis:

Biomass is converted into syngas and coal. The syngas feeds the flame and the carbon causes the next stage of the reaction.

2. Gasification:

The carbon produced in the previous stage is converted into gas to support combustion, resulting in a characteristic blue flame.

The only combustion residue is a very small amount of ash - less than 1% of the total volume of the fuel (particles).
